New Aussie Camino film

A new local film detailing Australian director Bill Bennett’s experiences walking the Camino Frances has been released this week. Shot in a different, almost documentary style ‘The Way, My Way’ is being enthusiastically embraced by local audiences in Australia.

Bill first walked the Camino de Santiago in 2013, then wrote a book about his experiences - The Way, My Way - which became a best seller. He’s since walked four more Caminos according to film’s website, so he’s an enthusiastic pilgrim now!

Bennett is played by actor Chris Haywood, but the supporting cast includes pilgrims the director actually trekked the Camino with – apparently out of 20 speaking parts, only four are played by professional actors. So the film gives you a very realistic insight into the type of people you meet on the Camino and the experiences you can expect. Though I’d argue Bennett’s character  is a little more grouchy and cantankerous than most Pilgrims you’ll meet!

‘ The Way, My way ‘ is an enjoyable and very personal of one man’s Camino and is on national theatre release with Bennett himself making public appearances across the country at various screenings. RAW Travel has a limited number of free passes to give away for cinema screenings in May – call (03) 5973 3763, first come first served.
